SPA SPACE: A Rejuvenating Retreat Inspired by Life's Renewal

This project, aptly named SPA SPACE, is a testament to the fusion of art, architecture, and design. The designer, Lien-Wu, Chen-Chains interior, has successfully transformed a simple spa club into a sanctuary that embodies the essence of life's renewal.

The design concept draws inspiration from the Qun Yue business, the driving force behind the spa shop. The emblematic "Q" is cleverly incorporated into the design, appearing as bubbles on the partitions and ceilings. These bubbles symbolize the rejuvenation and refreshment of life, capturing the essence of the spa experience.

SPA SPACE is divided into two main sections for women and men, each featuring a separate reception desk. This division is inspired by the Chinese concept of Yin and Yang, representing the balance between feminine and masculine energies. The overlapping and permeating embryonic round dots in both sections create a sense of unity and harmony, blurring the boundaries between the genders.

The design team employed a combination of materials to bring SPA SPACE to life. Glass, mirrors, veneer, and timber flooring were carefully selected to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space. The use of these materials adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to the spa club, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.

Measuring 1018 square feet, SPA SPACE offers a holistic spa journey for both body and soul. The design aims to transport visitors to a state of simplicity, purity, and originality, reminiscent of an embryonic round dot. This simple yet powerful symbol represents the boundless energy that lies within each individual.

The project, which started in June 2015 and finished in March 2016, was executed in Taiwan. Throughout the design process, the team faced various challenges, including creating a space that caters to both genders without compromising the unified appearance of the corporate design. However, through their creative and technical expertise, they successfully achieved a harmonious balance.

SPA SPACE has garnered recognition for its exceptional design. In 2017, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon designs that exhibit outstanding creativity, resourcefulness, and technical skills. SPA SPACE stands as a testament to the power of art, science, design, and technology in enhancing our quality of life.
